Poetry challenge: get involved!
Help us find all the lost poems this Autumn! Create some found poetry using our simple how-to guide, and share it online as part of the Found Poetry Family before the 8th of November! Here’s everything you need to know to get involved.
Who can take part?
Everyone! We’re inviting people of any age, living anywhere to take part, so we want you to get involved! You don’t need to be living in Oxfordshire to take part.
Is there a prize?
Yes! This is a competition! When the project closes on the 8th of November we’ll be selecting our favourite poem and presenting the author with a prize.
Can you provide resources to help me run this with a group or with my family?
Absolutely - we have some printable book pages to make this even easier for you to do. Just drop us a line at hello@oxfordshirediscovery.co.uk and we can send them over.
How do I share my poem?
The easiest way to share your poem is to post it on your social media account using the hashtag #FoundPoetryFamily. We’ll try to display all poems using that hashtag on our website. If you don’t use social media or would rather share your poem anonymously you can email it to us at hello@oxfordshirediscovery.co.uk and we’ll put it on our website for you.
Please be aware that we may share any poems that are sent in to the project as part of our media, social media or on our website as a celebration of our creative collective power!
How does it work?
Find an old book in a charity shop, a spare at home, or print off a book page from the internet. You just need one page, so if you’re using a book, carefully cut a page out.
Pick out the words on the page that you’d like to use in your poem. Your poem might be just a few words long, so think carefully about which words you like. Using felt tips, masking tape, or any other medium highlight those words, or hide the words you don’t want to use. You can make this into a picture in it’s own right, so get as creative as you want!
Share your finished piece with your #FoundPoetryFamily!
